A legally registered nonprofit and community development organisation promoting sustainable environmental restoration and community transformation across Ghana.

Who We Are

Sustainable Ecosystem and Community Development Initiative – Ghana (SECDI-GHANA) is dedicated to promoting sustainable environmental restoration and community transformation through innovative, practical, and inclusive development interventions.

The organisation responds to environmental degradation, inadequate access to clean water and sanitation, climate vulnerabilities, declining livelihoods, and socio-economic challenges affecting vulnerable communities across Ghana.

To create resilient and thriving communities in Ghana through sustainable ecosystem restoration, environmental protection, improved sanitation, and community-centred development initiatives.

What We Do

SECDI-GHANA works through integrated strategic pillars that connect ecosystem restoration, WASH, climate resilience, livelihoods, and inclusive community development.

1. Ecosystem Restoration & Environmental Protection

Afforestation, reforestation, economic tree planting, riverbank restoration, land reclamation, environmental awareness campaigns, and biodiversity conservation initiatives.

2. Clean Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)

Mechanized boreholes, community water systems, water treatment and filtration solutions, modern toilet facilities, hygiene education, and sanitation campaigns.

3. Climate Resilience & Sustainable Agriculture

Climate adaptation programs, agroforestry systems, sustainable farming practices, food security initiatives, farmer support, and livelihood improvement projects.

4. Youth Empowerment & Livelihood Development

Skills development, entrepreneurship support, leadership training, vocational programs, capacity-building initiatives, and youth engagement programs.

5. Community Development & Social Inclusion

Community infrastructure support, educational initiatives, advocacy, women empowerment, social protection interventions, and inclusive participation.

6. Sustainability & Strategic Partnerships

Donor engagement, partnership development, institutional strengthening, resource mobilisation, research, policy advocacy, and sustainable development collaborations.

Governance Structure

SECDI-GHANA operates with a governance structure designed to promote strategic leadership, accountability, transparency, and effective management.

General Assembly

Provides membership participation, organisational oversight, and decision-making where applicable.

Board of Directors / Trustees

Provides strategic leadership, approves policies and budgets, monitors performance, ensures accountability, and appoints senior management.

Executive Management

Leads day-to-day implementation of programs, administration, partnerships, and organisational operations.

Committees & Secretariat

Includes committees such as Finance, Programs, Audit, Human Resource, Partnership, and Procurement, supported by the Secretariat.
